The Scots have a saying: “Where there’s smoke, there’s vodka.” For lovers of darker drinks, Põhjaka Distillery has a little gift. The bottle has been filled with white dog, or unaged malt distillate. We have used both peat and lemon malt in the production of this spirit drink. Double the smoke, double the flavour. Bringing the traditions of smoke farms and smoke saunas into the drink. Smoke doesn’t just have to be in a sauna, on a ham or toasting a pipe. Now it can also be enjoyed by the glass.
Why ÖÖtla? Because it’s a drink that feels like the autumnal, slightly damp and hazy end-of-summer night. The ÖÖtla is also home to a manor house, which used to be the nearest distillery to our current location. The boilers don’t boil there anymore, but the Põhjaka Distillery is helping to keep the old traditions alive, and is doing so on a miniature scale to carry on their lost winery idea. 426 bottles from a single batch await their fate and a chance to excite the tastebuds.
